Flames' Wideman suspended 20 games for hitting linesman
Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman has been suspended 20 games for cross-checking linesman Don Henderson.
The decision comes following an in-person hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Tuesday afternoon.

Wideman hit Henderson into the boards from behind while skating to the bench during a game against the Nashville Predators on Jan. 27. Henderson was sent to hospital for precautionary reasons as a result of the incident.

It is unclear if Wideman will appeal the supplemental discipline. It's the first time he has been suspended in his 755-game NHL career.
The 32-year-old has two goals and 17 assists in 48 games this season.
