Ovechkin rallies Capitals past Lightning
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports
Alex Ovechkin almost single-handedly helped the Washington Capitals overcome a three-goal defecit to down the Tampa Bay Lighting 5-3 on Friday.
Ovechkin put his second goal of the night past Ben Bishop midway through the third period to tie the game at 3-3, and made Lightning defenseman Anton Stralman look like a pylon in the process:
Ovechkin would collect two more assists on goals by Marcus Johansson and T.J. Oshie, who tucked his second of the game into an empty net to ice the Capitals' win.
Forward Nicklas Backstrom would also collect his 600th career point when he assisted on Oshie's empty-net goal.
The win was the Capitals' fourth straight, and moved them into a tie with the Dallas Stars for top spot in the league, with a game in hand.
