Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta left Tuesday's game midway through the second period after a scary scene.
Maatta was racing up the side boards when he was nudged from behind by Minnesota Wild forward Nino Niederreiter and fell into the door of the Wild's bench.
Maatta appeared to be in considerable pain and needed assistance getting off the ice and to the dressing room. He was taken to hospital for further evaluation, and is expected to remain there overnight, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
