Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov has been handed a hefty speeding ticket.

The 28-year-old was handed a €35,000 (roughly $40,000 U.S.) fine for two counts of speeding and two counts of fraud, according to TSN who sited Finnish news outlet Helsingin Sanomat.

Komarov was pulled over reportedly travelling 25-30 km/h over the speed limit. At the time, Komarov was between contracts with the Maple Leafs and KHL's Moscow Dynamo. He told authorities that he had no income at the time, as fines are based on income, but the court later ruled that his earnings were to be reported over a longer time.

Komarov will be entering his second year of a four-year contract with the Maple Leafs this season.
