The Edmonton Oilers have beefed up Todd McLellan's coaching staff.
General manager Peter Chiarelli appointed Jay Woodcroft and Jim Johnson as assistant coaches Thursday.
Both men served as assistants to McLellan during his tenure with the San Jose Sharks.
Prior to San Jose, Woodcroft spent three seasons on the Detroit Red Wings' coaching staff, including during the club's 2008 Stanley Cup championship run.
Johnson has served as an assistant coach for the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning, and as interim head coach with the Phoenix Coyotes in 1999-2000.
