The third trip to the postseason was the charm for Simon Despres.
The Anaheim Ducks defenseman scored his first career playoff goal in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Thursday. Despres appeared in six playoff contests with the Pittsburgh Penguins in two previous postseasons, but did not record a point.
Ryan Getzlaf sent the puck to Despres near the hash marks at the side boards late in the second period of Thursday's contest. Despres one-timed it at the Chicago Blackhawks' net before Corey Crawford could cover the angle.
The Ducks acquired Despres from Pittsburgh in exchange for Ben Lovejoy at the trade deadline.
