Boudreau after 1st-round win: 'Never thought it would be 4-0 in my wildest dreams'

Bruce Boudreau didn't anticipate a short series.

His Anaheim Ducks completed a four-game sweep of the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday, far exceeding the head coach's expectations.

"I never thought it would be 4-0 in my wildest dreams," Boudreau said after the win. "I thought it would be a six- or seven-game series."

Despite then outcome, Boudreau isn't that far off base, as the series was closer than a sweep would indicate. The Jets held leads heading into the third period of the first three games before the Ducks stepped on the gas for a 5-2 win in Game 4.

Boudreau himself acknowledged how tight the series had been prior to puck drop on Wednesday.

"Let’s not forget that we haven’t held the lead for more than 10 minutes, and we are up 3-0," he said. "This could easily be the other way and you guys would be saying 'I told you that Anaheim team was no good.'"

The Ducks, however, are moving on, and await their second-round opponent as the other three Western Conference series' continue.
