The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with goaltender Rasmus Tirronen on an entry-level deal.
The one-year contract will pay him $575,000 in the NHL and $65,000 at the minor-league level.
He spent three seasons at Merrimack College, going 12-14-3 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage in his senior year.
“Rasmus had an outstanding senior season for Merrimack,” Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis said. “He’s a big presence in the net and we look forward to following his development next season.”
The Finnish netminder went 22-34-8 with a 2.45 GAA and a save percentage of .918 in 68 career games at the college level.
