Ovechkin responds to Getzlaf's diving accusation: 'Maybe he's jealous. I have hair'
Shots fired.
Alex Ovechkin has responded to Ryan Getzlaf's accusation that he was diving during Sunday's game in Anaheim, and in a way that makes us hope the two teams can meet in the Stanley Cup Final.
"Maybe he’s just jealous. I have hair, he don’t have hair," Ovechkin said Tuesday, according to Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post. "We can start talking about it all day long. I think it was comment because he was disappointed they lost. Again, it is what it is.
"I don’t think somebody can call me diver in this league, but how I said, maybe he’s disappointed in all the kind of moments that happen."
The remarks stemmed from this incident during the Capitals' 5-3 win over the Ducks, during which Getzlaf received a two-minute minor for slashing Ovechkin.
Both players remain among the league's scoring leaders, and there would certainly be no shortage of storylines if their teams did manage to find their way to the final.
