Mike Fisher's run with the Nashville Predators appears all but certain to extend past this season.

Fisher, an unrestricted free agent at season's end, has been clear about his desire to remain with the club, and general manager David Poile seems more than happy to oblige, if the price is right.

"I love the city and I love the guys here in the organization," Fisher told John Glennon of The Tennessean. "It's been great. Hopefully the business part of things will take care of itself, but I definitely want to be part of it for sure."

"We've reached out to Mike and his agent," Poile added, "and we've made it clear we want him back."

Fisher, who will turn 35 this summer, has been a big part of the team's relatively surprising success this season, recording 13 goals and 12 assists in 33 games following an Achilles injury. Despite the personal production, he's hoping to be part of a winning club.

"It's one of those years where everyone is playing great and the puck has been going in for me," Fisher said. "But for me personally, I just want a chance to win and I feel like we've got a good group here. To be part of it would be exciting, for however much longer."

Poile said the team will attempt to nail down a new deal at season's end.
