The Toronto Maple Leafs have found their temporary replacement for Randy Carlyle.
Peter Horachek has been named interim head coach, the club announced Wednesday.
He was hired over the summer as an assistant coach along with Steve Spott. Horachek was one of four assistants – along with Spott, Chris Dennis and Rick St. Croix – listed on the team's game notes prior to Wednesday's practice.
Horachek was the interim head coach of the Florida Panthers after replacing Kevin Dineen in November 2013. Horachek was fired from that role last April.
The Panthers went 26-36-4 during his tenure. He also served as an assistant and associate coach to Barry Trotz with the Nashville Predators from 2003 to 2013.
