Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left Thursday's game after being driven awkwardly into the endboards on an illegal check from behind by Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.

Toews returned briefly, but is being held out of the rest of the game for precautionary reasons, according to various reports.

Here's a closer look at the principal point of contact, and the awkwardness to which Toews hits the boards.

Update: The NHL's Department of Player Safety has already confirmed that Seidenberg's hit will be subject to review, according to the Boston Globe's Amalie Benjamin.
