Jay Bouwmeester did not play Sunday for the St. Louis Blues, effectively ending the longest active consecutive games played streak in professional sports.

The veteran defenseman will be sidelined with a lower-body injury suffered Saturday in Ottawa after suiting up in 737 consecutive games spanning more than a decade.

His ironman streak was the longest in North American professional sports and the fifth-longest of all time.

Anaheim Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano will have the distinction passed down to him Sunday. He will play in his 562nd straight game - 12th most all time.
