NHL to announce '24/7' replacement on Sept. 23
HBO has temporarily abandoned the "24/7: Road to the Winter Classic" series, but the NHL still plans on documenting this year's outdoor game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals.
NHL spokesman confirms via email no HBO 24/7 partnership, says league will announce "our new partner and plans on 9/23 at Nationals Park."

It will be the seventh edition of the Winter Classic, and the second appearance for both teams in the annual New Year's Day event.
HBO partnered with the league for the first six Winter Classic games, producing weekly episodes that documented the teams' progress and preparation for the game itself.
