Report: Johansen and Blue Jackets still far apart in contract talks
Bruce Hemmelgarn / USA TODAY
The Columbus Blue Jackets are still very much engaged in a tense game of contract chicken with budding star Ryan Johansen, with neither side looking as though they are ready to blink.
#CBJ talks w RFA Ryan Johansen have not progressed beyond initial offers from each side. They're galaxies apart on term / money. #stilljuly

Although, as Aaron Portzline notes, it is still July so there is plenty of time to get a deal done, Johansen has already referred to a previous Blue Jackets' offer as "a little disrespectful".
The fourth overall pick in 2010, Johansen had a breakout season in 2013-14, notching 33 goals and 63 points as the Blue Jackets made the playoffs for the first time since 2008-09.
