Hurricanes sign Jay McClement to 1-year, $1M contract

The Carolina Hurricanes added to their depth at center by signing Jay McClement to a one-year deal on Wednesday.

Stephen Whyno of The Canadian Press reports the deal is worth $1 million.

McClement is coming off two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he was used as a defensive forward who killed penalties. He faced more defensive-zone starts than any other Maple Leafs player and was on the ice for a team-leading 63.9 percent of Toronto's shorthanded situations last season.
