Rick DiPietro's road back to the NHL appears to have hit a significant bump, as he has decided to walk away from his professional tryout with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.

In five games in Charlotte, DiPietro posted a record of 0-4-0 with a .846 save percentage and a 5.18 goals-against average.
