The Boston Bruins are among at least 10 teams interested in acquiring restricted free agent Simon Edvinsson from the Detroit Red Wings, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reports.
Despite the significant interest, Red Wings interim general manager Shawn Horcoff has told potential suitors that the franchise's priority is to re-sign the disgruntled D-man, LeBrun adds.
However, recent reports suggest Edvinsson would prefer a trade out of Detroit rather than work a new deal to remain with the team. The 23-year-old initially reported to camp but returned home to Sweden while awaiting a resolution.
Although the Red Wings want to retain Edvinsson, a report surfaced Wednesday that said the club would seek NHL-ready talent in any potential deal but is open to the right package of picks and prospects.
The Bruins' blue line is led by Mason Lohrei, Hampus Lindholm, Connor Clifton, and Nikita Zadorov, as Charlie McAvoy serves a six-game suspension to start the campaign. James Hagens, selected No. 7 overall in the 2025 draft, is Boston's top prospect, according to NHL.com.
The Red Wings are also navigating a trade request from former captain Dylan Larkin, who scored a goal and added an assist in his season debut Tuesday.
