New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov will miss six-to-eight months after sustaining a torn ACL, the team announced Wednesday.
Romanov got injured in an awkward collision with New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad during Tuesday's 5-2 loss.

Romanov missed 67 games last season. He underwent shoulder surgery in November.
The 26-year-old is in the second campaign of an eight-year pact that carries a $6.25-million cap hit.
Romanov last played the majority of a season in 2024-25, when he recorded four goals and 20 points in 64 games.
The Russian has 17 goals and 84 points in 372 career games over seven seasons with the Montreal Canadiens and Islanders. New York acquired Romanov on draft night in 2022 along with the 98th overall pick in exchange for the 13th overall selection.
