Oilers re-sign Dickinson to 5-year, $20M deal

The Edmonton Oilers are retaining forward Jason Dickinson on a five-year deal with an average annual value of $4 million, the team announced Sunday.

Dickinson tallied one goal and three assists over 17 games with the Oilers after being acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks midseason. He was slated to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

The 30-year-old became a key member of the Oilers' penalty-killing unit. After adding Dickinson on March 4, Edmonton ranked among the top 10 in the NHL in PK%, killing 81.6% of opponent power plays for the remainder of the campaign.

The 11-year veteran has 75 goals and 97 assists over 566 career games.
