Evan Bouchard will miss the rest of the IIHF World Championship after exiting Thursday's quarterfinal clash against the United States following a hit from Ryan Lindgren, Edmonton Oilers general manager Stan Bowman confirmed to TSN.

Bouchard needed assistance exiting the ice and didn't return to the game. Lindgren received a five-minute major for the hit.

"He's injured, but he's doing well," Bowman said. "Thankfully, it's not worse than it was, but clearly it was a terrible hit. It's disappointing to see that happen."

Canada plays Finland in the semifinals on Saturday. The gold-medal game is scheduled for Sunday.

Bouchard joined Canada's roster after the Oilers were eliminated by the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He notched six points in eight games at the world championships after posting a career-high 95 points in the regular season.
