The Florida Panthers acquired forward Garnet Hathaway and the 181st overall pick from the Philadelphia Flyers for the 135th overall pick and a 2027 fourth-round selection, the teams announced Thursday.
The Flyers retained 50% of Hathaway's salary. Hathaway will carry a $1.2-million cap hit for Florida and is signed through next season.
Hathaway recorded one goal, three points, and 59 penalty minutes in 66 games last season. His 252 hits led the Flyers and ranked ninth in the NHL. The 34-year-old added one goal, two points, and 14 PIMs in eight postseason games.
"Garnet is a physical and highly competitive player who will complement our group well," Panthers general manager Bill Zito said in a statement. "We're excited to add his veteran presence to our group."
Hathaway has 76 goals, 163 points, and 739 penalty minutes in 672 career games with the Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, and Flyers.
