Ballard (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Coach Mike Yeo announced Monday that Ballard would miss multiple weeks with the injury, so the placement on IR doesn't qualify as much of a surprise. Fortunately, fellow defensemen Clayton Stoner was able to practice Tuesday and could return at some point this week to add stability to the Wild's blue line.
