Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews will miss at least a week of action due to a lower-body injury, according to The Athletic's Chris Johnston.

Matthews left Tuesday's contest against the Boston Bruins after colliding with Nikita Zadorov and didn't return.

Matthews was limited to 67 games last season due to injury but entered the new campaign saying he was healthy. The 28-year-old has nine goals and five assists in 17 games this year.

Toronto goaltender Anthony Stolarz, who was also injured in Tuesday's game, is unavailable for Thursday's clash with the Los Angeles Kings and hasn't been given a timeline for return. The Maple Leafs recalled Artur Akhtyamov from the AHL with Stolarz sidelined, but Dennis Hildeby will start against the Kings.

Here's how the Leafs lined up at practice Thursday as they fight a slew of injuries. The club is also without Chris Tanev and Scott Laughton.

Toronto has lost three straight games and is 8-8-1 overall.
