The New Jersey Devils signed goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a two-year contract extension with a $6-million cap hit, the team announced Friday.
Markstrom went 26-16-6 and posted a .900 save percentage in his first campaign with the Devils last season. He was named to Sweden's roster at the 4 Nations Face-Off but was unable to compete due to injury.
The 35-year-old sports an .830 SV% through four starts this year. He allowed eight goals on 42 shots in a 8-4 loss against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday after missing six games due to a lower-body injury.
Markstrom is in the final season of a six-year pact signed in 2020 with the Calgary Flames that carries a $6-million cap hit.
The Devils acquired Markstrom from the Flames in June 2024 for defenseman Kevin Bahl and a first-round pick. Calgary retained $1.825 million of Markstrom's cap hit in the transaction.
