Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen will start Game 1 of Carolina's second-round series versus the Washington Capitals on Tuesday, head coach Rod Brind'Amour confirmed, according to team reporter Walt Ruff.

Andersen didn't play in Carolina's Game 5 win against the New Jersey Devils after sustaining an injury in a Game 4 collision with Timo Meier.

Pyotr Kochetkov made 31 saves on 35 shots in Andersen's place for the Hurricanes' double-overtime triumph in Game 5.

Andersen has a .936 save percentage and a 1.59 goals-against average in four playoff starts this year.

The 35-year-old signed a one-year contract extension worth $2.75 million with the Hurricanes on Saturday.
