Montreal Canadiens forward Kirby Dach is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee, the team announced Friday.
He's expected to fully recover before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
Dach last played Saturday in the Habs' 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators. He recorded three hits in 13:43 minutes of ice time and was subsequently held out of Monday's practice.
The 24-year-old compiled 10 goals and 22 points in 57 outings this campaign and was on pace to match his career high of 14 tallies.
Dach was limited to two games last season because of a torn ACL and MCL.
The Canadiens acquired Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2022 NHL Draft in exchange for the 13th overall pick and a third-round selection.
He's amassed 43 goals and 121 points in 269 NHL games since going third overall in 2019.
Dach is under contract for one more season with a cap hit of approximately $3.36 million. He can become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights once his deal expires.
