Report: Leafs, Rangers, Bolts pursuing NCAA free agent Luke Haymes
The Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, and Tampa Bay Lightning are among the clubs pursuing NCAA free-agent center Luke Haymes, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Haymes is in his third year at Dartmouth College. He's tallied eight goals, 12 points, and 43 shots in 16 contests after missing the first 11 games of the campaign with a broken hand. He enjoyed a career year as a sophomore in 2023-24, recording a team-leading 18 goals and 18 assists in 31 outings.
The 21-year-old also paced the Big Green with 11 goals in his rookie campaign.
Haymes is listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds. He participated in the Maple Leafs' development camp in 2023 and the Lightning's in 2024.
The Ottawa native spent one season with the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the BCHL in 2021-22 before beginning his college career. Haymes lit the lamp 22 times and logged 49 points in 52 games en route to being named the club's Rookie of the Year.
