The Vegas Golden Knights signed veteran forward Brandon Saad to a one-year deal for the remainder of the season, the team announced Friday.
His contract is worth a prorated $1.5 million, per TSN's Chris Johnston.
The St. Louis Blues placed Saad on unconditional waivers Thursday for the purpose of terminating his contract. He became an unrestricted free agent after clearing waivers at 2 p.m. ET Friday.
Saad had one more season remaining on his previous pact with a cap hit of $4.5 million.
The Blues initially waived Saad on Tuesday to assign him to the AHL before the two sides agreed to terminate his contract.
The 32-year-old recorded seven goals and 16 points in 43 games with the Blues this season while hampered by a 9.3 shooting percentage. Saad joined St. Louis as an unrestricted free agent on a five-year deal in July 2021.
Reports emerged in December that St. Louis was looking to trade Saad after making him a healthy scratch.
Saad has totaled 260 goals and 515 points in 906 career contests between the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, and Blues.
He enjoyed his best statistical season with the Jackets in 2015-16, scoring 31 goals and 53 points in 78 outings.
Saad won the Stanley Cup twice (2013, 2015) as a member of the Blackhawks. He's amassed 55 points in 103 career playoff games.
