Columbus Blue Jackets forward Sean Monahan is expected to miss an additional six-to-eight weeks with the wrist injury he sustained Jan. 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the club announced.
Monahan missed his ninth straight game Saturday, sitting out a tilt against the Los Angeles Kings. The 30-year-old forward produced a point per game on the season before getting hurt, notching 14 goals and 27 assists across 41 contests.
The Blue Jackets placed Monahan on injured reserve Jan. 9. He'd been skating as the team's top-line center.
Monahan is in his first campaign with Columbus. The Jackets inked him to a five-year deal at $5.5 million annually in July.
