NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly reminded general managers of the league's tampering rules at the league's GM meetings, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported on Tuesday's "Early Trading."

Tampering was a scheduled part of the agenda for the meetings. Daly also reminded GMs of the penalties for tampering, including fines and the loss of draft picks.

Daly was "uncomfortable" with reports about teams agreeing to contracts with free agents before free agency officially opened, he told LeBrun.

Teams can't talk to free agents before noon ET on July 1 unless given permission by the team that owns the player's rights. An agent can also ask permission to speak to other teams on behalf of their player.

Players who reportedly signed contracts before free agency opened this summer include Tyler Bertuzzi, Brandon Montour, Tyler Toffoli, and Brett Pesce.
