St. Louis Blues forward Dylan Holloway is on the mend after leaving Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on a stretcher.
Hollaway was taken to hospital after being hit in the neck by a puck. He finished his shift, but felt lightheaded as he went to the bench and eventually lost consciousness.
"I feel good today, I feel way better," he said. "Obviously it was a scary situation. From what I've been told, the puck hit my vagus nerve in my neck. As soon as I got hit, I knew something was a little off, but then I saw we had a two-on-one so I couldn't pass up that opportunity.
"Soon as I got to the bench, I was feeling a little woozy. Didn't really remember much from there until I was on the stretcher, close to the ambulance."
After Holloway underwent tests, he said he was cleared late Tuesday to be released from hospital. Doctors advised he refrain from physical activity for 24 hours, but Holloway's hopeful to play Thursday against Utah.
The Blues acquired Holloway from the Edmonton Oilers via offer sheet over the summer. He has six points in 13 games to start his first season in St. Louis.
