Ovechkin becomes 6th player with 700 goals, 700 assists
Alex Ovechkin's primary individual focus this season is on catching Wayne Gretzky for the all-time goal-scoring record, but he hit a notable assist milestone during Tuesday night's 4-2 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Washington Capitals star set up Aliaksei Protas' tally with a perfect centering pass early in the second period for his 700th career helper and his second of the game.

Ovechkin, who earned a secondary assist on Tom Wilson's goal about two minutes earlier, put himself in rarefied air with the one that followed, becoming only the sixth player in NHL history to notch 700 goals and 700 assists.
The veteran forward joined Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Jaromir Jagr, Marcel Dionne, and Phil Esposito.
