The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz to one-year contracts Monday after both started training camp on professional tryouts.
Pacioretty's deal is worth $873,770 while Lorentz will earn $775,000. In order to become cap compliant after the signings, Toronto placed Calle Jarnkrok, Jani Hakanpaa, and Dakota Mermis on long-term injured reserve, while Connor Dewar and Fraser Minten landed on IR.
After all the moves, Toronto is $1 under the $88-million salary limit ahead of Wednesday's season opener against the Montreal Canadiens.
Pacioretty recorded 23 points in 47 games with the Washington Capitals last season. The 16-year veteran has struggled with injuries the past few campaigns but has 902 career games and 330 goals under his belt.
Lorentz spent last season with the Florida Panthers, chipping in with three playoff points in a depth role as the club won the Stanley Cup.
Toronto also signed AHL defenseman Cade Webber to a two-year extension. The contract becomes one-way for the 2026-27 season.
