Blackhawks sign Domi, Athanasiou to 1-year contracts
The Chicago Blackhawks signed a pair of forwards at the outset of free agency on Wednesday, landing Max Domi and Andreas Athanasiou on matching one-year, $3-million contracts, the team announced Wednesday.
Domi spent last season between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes, where he totaled 39 points in 72 appearances. Chicago will be the 27-year-old's fifth NHL team.
Athanasiou was limited to only 28 games this past season with the Los Angeles Kings, racking up 17 points in 28 contests. The speedy winger has also had stints with the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers in his seven-year career, amassing 196 points in 378 games.
The rebuilding Blackhawks have been in sell mode so far this offseason, trading Alex DeBrincat to the Ottawa Senators and Kirby Dach to the Montreal Canadiens at last week's draft.
