We have just one game Monday night in the NHL. While nothing stands out in terms of sides or totals, there are a few juicy shot props on the board.
Let's break them down.
Josh Morrissey over 2.5 shots (-106)
Josh Morrissey has been a shooting machine lately. He's registered at least three shots in seven of the last 10 games, and, even in defeat, he's generating enough volume to get there. For example, Morrissey only had two shots on goal Sunday but attempted eight - more than enough to win on most occasions.
That kind of volume is currently there for Morrissey on a nightly basis. He's averaged 7.9 shot attempts over the last five contests while going over the number in four of them.
As long as he continues to pull the trigger, he should continue to hit. And he should have no shortage of opportunities against the Montreal Canadiens. They rank dead last in attempts and shots on goal against in the past 10 games.
Brendan Gallagher over 2.5 shots (+110)
Brendan Gallagher has gone a little cold lately, but he remains an attractive option, especially on home soil.
Even after falling a shot short in five consecutive home dates, Gallagher has hit more often than not when playing in Montreal.
The shot attempts continue to be there as well. Gallagher has averaged more than 20 attempts per 60 minutes at five-on-five over his last 10 home games. That leads the team by a country mile.
The Winnipeg Jets rank 27th in shots against in their previous 10 contests and are in the latter half of a back-to-back, so they're certainly a team that can feed into volume shooters. I'm happy to take a chance on Gallagher in this spot at plus money.
Pierre-Luc Dubois over 2.5 shots (-155)
The stars are aligning for a big night from Pierre-Luc Dubois. Not only are the Canadiens the worst team in the league right now for suppressing shots, but they struggle most against centers.
Montreal has conceded 12.53 shots per game to centers in 19 contests since the beginning of March, which ranks dead last in the NHL.
Dubois would be an enticing option under normal circumstances in this spot. However, more weight will fall on his shoulders with Mark Scheifele out of the lineup. With such a big workload in a mouth-watering matchup, I have no problem eating the juice and backing Dubois to record three shots or more.
