NHL Tuesday player props: 2 shooters to target at home

There are eight games on the ice tonight, which means there's no shortage of shot props to comb through.

Let's dive into a couple of my favorites as we look to stay hot.

Joe Pavelski over 2.5 shots on goal (+110)

Roope Hintz is generally the player to target when the Stars are at home. We've seen a bit of a changing of the guard lately, though, as Pavelski has picked up the slack as the primary shooter.

Pavelski has recorded at least three shots in seven of his last nine home games, including six straight. The veteran winger has averaged 4.5 shots on goal during his hot streak, so he's not just sneaking over the number - he's often going well past it.

I expect him to do just that again tonight against the Canadiens. They have allowed 37.5 shots per game over their last 10 road contests, which is dead last in the NHL.

Montreal struggles to defend at the best of times, and now it's playing in the latter half of a road back-to-back. I expect the Stars to generate a ton of shots in this game - and Pavelski should be at the forefront of the action.

Thomas Chabot over 2.5 shots on goal (-120)

Chabot - like many offensive players - benefits greatly from playing on home ice. He has 61 shot attempts over his last 10 games in Ottawa, good for six per night.

By comparison, Chabot generated 47 attempts over his last 10 road contests. So you're getting an extra 1.5 attempts per night on home soil, which is a big difference. That's why Chabot averages nearly half a shot more per game in Ottawa this season.

Like Pavelski, Chabot should also benefit from an advantageous matchup against a bad defensive team in a back-to-back situation.

The Sabres are awful in the defensive zone - especially on the road. They've conceded 36.77 shots per game over the last 10 away from home, only faring better than the Canadiens and Blue Jackets.

Buffalo should give up a lot of volume in this game. There's no better target for us than Chabot, who just so happens to lead the Senators in attempts at home this season by 22.
