The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Ryan Suter to a four-year contract with an average annual value of $3.65 million, the team announced Wednesday.

The veteran spent the last nine seasons with the Minnesota Wild before the team bought out the remainder of his contract. He had three goals and 16 assists in 56 games last season.

Suter remained generally productive on both ends of the ice over the last several seasons with the Wild. He recorded over 40 points for five straight campaigns from 2016 until 2020.

The 36-year-old has played 1,198 career games and scored 93 goals while adding 514 assists. The Nashville Predators drafted Suter with the seventh pick in the 2003 NHL Draft.
