The Dallas Stars claimed defenseman Sami Vatanen off waivers from the New Jersey Devils, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
The Devils made the 29-year-old available Sunday. He carries a $2 million cap hit and is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
New Jersey dealt Vatanen to the Carolina Hurricanes at last season's trade deadline, and then the blue-liner re-upped with the Devils for 2021. He's notched six points in 30 games this campaign while averaging over 17 minutes per contest.
The Stars currently sit six points outside the playoff cutline in the Central.
