New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin suffered a broken rib in a car accident Sunday, the team announced Monday.
Shesterkin will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich was a passenger and is considered day-to-day.
The rookie netminder has been impressive through his first 10 NHL starts, posting a 9-1-0 record with a 2.23 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.
Buchnevich has contributed 14 goals and 37 points through 61 games this season, his fourth with the Rangers.
New York is 8-2-0 over its last 10 outings and enters Monday's action four points back of the Eastern Conference's final wild-card spot.
