The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to a one-year contract with free-agent goaltender Mike Smith, the team announced Monday.
Financial terms are not yet known.
Smith spent the last two seasons in-province with the rival Calgary Flames and is expected to compete with incumbent netminder Mikko Koskinen for the Oilers' starting job.
The 37-year-old posted a 23-16-2 record with an .898 save percentage in 42 games last season.
