Bruins' Sweeney wins GM of the Year honors
Boston Bruins executive Don Sweeney was named General Manager of the Year at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Sweeney, who helped guide the Bruins to a berth in the Stanley Cup Final, earned the honor over Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues and Carolina Hurricanes GM Don Waddell.
The veteran executive made a pair of key moves to reinforce the Bruins' roster on their run to the Final, adding forwards Charlie Coyle and Marcus Johansson prior to the trade deadline.
