Analysis:
With defensemen Jordie Benn (upper body), Shea Weber (lower body) and Alexei Emelin (lower body) ailing, Lernout becomes an insurance policy of sorts ahead of Friday's home clash with the Lightning. The 21-year-old stands tall at 6-foot-4, having used that size to his advantage en route to three goals, 13 assists and 61 PIM over 71 games with the AHL's IceCaps this season.
