Former NHLer McGrattan vehemently disagrees with Nyquist's 6-game ban
Brian McGrattan is making no secret of the fact he strongly disagrees with the NHL.
His beef, more specifically, is with the Department of Player Safety, after it was announced Detroit's Gustav Nyquist had been suspended only six games for a dangerous and deliberate high stick that caught Minnesota's Jared Spurgeon close to the eye.

McGrattan, who's currently playing in England, expanded in an interview with the Nottingham Post:
The incident was pretty much the worst thing you can see as a player. You have big hits, grey area hits. That's part of the game with the speed it's played at, but when you have someone look you in the eye and spear you in the face that's a 20 game ban minimum. He hit him an inch from his eye. I don't care who you are. I don't care if you've never taken a penalty in your life. That's 20 games at least. The trouble is in the NHL there are two rule books depending on who you are.
The enforcer also lamented the lack of response from Spurgeon's teammates directly after the incident.
McGrattan has racked up 87 penalty minutes in 34 games for the Nottingham Panthers this season.
