Penguins' Derrick Pouliot: Set to come off bench Thursday
Pouliot will make his season debut Thursday and could see time on the power play. "Derrick sees the ice well, has a good shot," coach Mike Sullivan said. "Our hope is that we'll get him some power-play time tonight, get him a chance to be in his element, help his overall game."
Analysis:
Pouliot has served as a healthy scratch for the first four games. "We like his ability to make the first pass," Sullivan added. "He's improving in the defensive aspect of his game. We have a lot of confidence in him." Pouliot has struggled defensively in his brief NHL time, but possesses the offensive ability to quarterback the power play. Justin Schultz and Trevor Daley will likely see more time on the man advantage than Pouliot with Kris Letang (upper body) out, but that could change with an inspired performance from the young blueliner.
