This is arguably the most interesting game of the divisional round because we didn't get to see it the first time around. If Week 17's contest had been completed, we'd have a better understanding of the legitimacy of one of the most divisive pregame point spreads of the regular season.

The Bills closed -2.5 on the road at kickoff that night, which makes the opening line of Bills -3.5 for this week's game in Buffalo perplexing. Going by market-based power ratings of that Week 17 game - and after flipping home-field advantage - Buffalo should theoretically be favored by at least six points. A Bengals win on that fateful Monday night would've helped disprove those ratings, but now bettors have jumped on the Bills - stabilizing the line at -5.5.

Bengals @ Bills (-5.5, 48.5)

Now that this line is more closely balanced to when the market closed the first time around, bettors are required to ask a single question in handicapping this game on the field: Can the Bengals move the ball with a makeshift offensive line?

The market is fully aware that Cincinnati's re-made offensive line has been suddenly torn down with injuries to household names in La'el Collins (Week 16), Alex Cappa (Week 18), and Jonah Williams (wild-card round). They're replaced by the poorly rated Hakeem Adeniji, Jamal Jackson, Andre Jackson, Max Scharping, and Cordell Volson. That group is so anonymous that you probably didn't notice that the Jacksons aren't even Bengals, but rather a fictional offensive line brother duo from the 2000 film "The Replacements."

Once Williams exited the wild-card round, the Ravens sacked Joe Burrow whenever the Bengals ran plays that required time for receivers to get downfield. That forced Cincy to mostly abandon five-step drop-backs. It survived despite just 234 total yards on offense and thanks to the highest-leverage play of the playoffs: a 98-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

The case for the Bengals to find success on offense is that they're not facing the Ravens this week and that the Bills allowed 24 offensive points to Skylar Thompson. The problem with that argument is that the Dolphins only mustered 3.3 yards per play, so the Bills' defense wasn't as vulnerable as the final score suggested. The healthy Bengals were a top-five team in converting red-zone opportunities to touchdowns this season, but the Bills were second in that category defensively.

Last season, the Bengals made the Super Bowl with a sub-par offensive line. In their last four games, they've only exceeded four yards per play once - thanks to a big first half in New England.

The Ravens went for long, sustained drives that chewed up enough time to limit Cincinnati to just seven drives last week. Josh Allen, however, will continue to stretch opposition defenses. The Bengals allowed 11.2 yards per completion this season, which ranks 29th in the NFL, so they'll surely miss star cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, who suffered a season-ending injury at the end of October.

Pick: Bills -5.5 / Bengals team total under 21.5 points

Joe Burrow longest pass completion: Under 36.5 yards (-115)

We faded Burrow last week and won with 60 yards of cushion on his total because Cincinnati couldn't find a connection longer than 19 yards through the air. Burrow's total, at 279.5 yards, is worth a look to the under, but the Bengals' struggles to run block, along with the Bills' ability to score, means the quarterback could crawl over this total on a high volume of short passes.

Buffalo should be prepared for Burrow's best option - the three-step drop. Even if they're not, being forced to nickel-and-dime the Bengals down the field means Burrow will need a complete breakdown in the Bills' tackling to have a long completion.

Devin Singletary under 41.5 rushing yards

There are three hurdles to Singletary going over this total:

Singletary is losing carries to James Cook (12-10 last week).
The Bengals' stout run defense when run-stuffing tackle D.J. Reader is in the lineup.
The Bills will likely go back to last week's game plan of using empty-backfield sets to take advantage of their opponents' secondary depth.

Samaje Perine over 10.5 receiving yards

The Bengals' long-time passing-down running back, Perine is known as a better pass-blocker than Joe Mixon. Last week, as the Bengals suffered another injury to their line, Perine played 31 snaps to Mixon's 26. Perine played 38% or more of the snaps even after Mixon came back from injury in Week 14. With Burrow needing to get the ball out quickly, look for more screen passes to be in the plan - a week after the Bills allowed 14.5 yards per catch to Dolphins' tailbacks, on nine targets.

Bonus bet: Cole Beasley anytime touchdown (+400)

Like it or not, the Bills ran plays both on fourth down and at the goal line for Beasley, and he had the third-most snaps of all Buffalo receivers. At +400 or longer, he's worth a small bet on principle.

We've had fun all season long with the NFL's version of "Must See TV" Thursdays. We've tried to keep things light by using the famous Thursday night appointment television show "Seinfeld" to help with our look at the prop markets and get us in the right state of mind. While the playoffs are more serious for the players, we should remember that it's still just any other game for bettors, and there are still lessons to be taken from Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer.

"I'm telling you right now. If you're kidding around, I'm not going to be able to be your friend anymore. ... If this is a lie, if this is a joke, if this is your idea of some cute little game, we're finished." - George to Jerry after he's told the "it girl" from college will call him.

For all the public excitement about the Bengals' current eight-game winning streak, the Ravens were a sizeable division favorite more than halfway through the season. Then Lamar Jackson got hurt. If someone had told a Bengals fan at the time that Jackson wouldn't return, they'd think you were messing with them. Unfortunately, his absence has largely ruined the anticipation for this Sunday night wild-card game as the point spread creeps toward double digits.

'The Marine Biologist'

Just like George and Elaine in "The Marine Biologist," we're going to take on an intimidating character for Ravens-Bengals.

Both offenses will have a difficult time scoring Sunday, so we're looking to play our first under of Wild Card Weekend. Fading Joe Burrow is as nerve-racking as facing a longtime college crush or an ill-tempered writer like Yuri Testikov, but Burrow's prescribed yardage total has been set 10-15 yards higher than in similar matchups.

John Harbaugh's defensive staff knows everything about the Bengals' offensive plan and has the personnel to slow it down. Pass rushes of similar talent - like the Buccaneers', Panthers', and Cowboys' units - were able to vex Cincinnati's "golden boy." Now, the right side of Burrow's offensive line is compromised after recent injuries to La'el Collins and Alex Cappa.

Baltimore has given up more than 16 points just twice since adding Roquan Smith. One was a late-game collapse in Jacksonville where the Ravens held the Jaguars to 10 points through three-and-a-half quarters, and the other was last week when Anthony Brown kept giving the Bengals short fields, as well as seven points on a fumble recovery.

Burrow hasn't recorded more than 217 passing yards against Baltimore this season, including last week's walk-through where he threw 42 times. Another clock-churning slugfest won't provide Burrow the opportunity to match his biggest passing games from this season.

Pick: Joe Burrow under 269.5 passing yards

A TD that's definitely going to happen

"The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup at a deli."

The classic moment of this episode occurs when George gets backed into trying to save a beached whale. He's not exactly the guy you'd want to rely on in a tight spot, but he gets the job done. In a game where field goals will be valuable currency, Ja'Marr Chase is the most reliable target to win a contested matchup.

Chase scored in four of seven games before his midseason injury, and in three of five since returning. He's also seen double-digit targets in 10 of 12 games. No matter the coverage, Burrow is looking to Chase in crunch time, and he can throw through a tighter window than Testikov with an electronic organizer.

Pick: Ja'Marr Chase anytime touchdown (+100)

A TD that probably won't happen ... but maybe it does

Tyler Huntley will continue to try to be a reasonable facsimile to Jackson, but the Ravens know their best approach is to try to load up with numerous tight ends and run the ball repeatedly.

We're taking a bigger swing than Kramer trying to hit Titleists into the ocean, but Josh Oliver averaged a roughly 50% snap share in the latter half of the season and could see even more of the field Sunday. If that's the case, his chances of scoring on a play-action pass are at least better than the original title of Tolstoy's "War and Peace" being "War, What is it Good For?"

Pick: Josh Oliver anytime touchdown (+1400)

How to bet: The first two bets should be single-unit wagers to win a unit on minus prices and more than a unit on a plus-money bet. The last wager should be smaller, trying to win back your standard unit size.

The Cincinnati Bengals wasted little time in upgrading their offensive line.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers right guard Alex Cappa intends to sign a four-year, $40-million deal with the Bengals, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The club also signed offensive lineman Ted Karras to a three-year, $18-million contract, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Cappa was a durable interior starter on the Buccaneers' offensive line. He hasn't missed a single snap over the past two seasons.

Meanwhile, Karras has spent five of his six seasons with the New England Patriots. He brings versatility as he can play at center or guard.

Fresh off their loss in Super Bowl LVI, the Bengals have prioritized protecting franchise quarterback Joe Burrow after he was sacked a league-high 51 times in 2021.
