Cam Newton: If both teams are at their best, 'we're going to win'
The NFL's soon-to-be MVP isn't lacking confidence heading into the biggest game of his pro career.
Asked about Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Denver Broncos, Cam Newton said the Carolina Panthers will emerge victorious if both teams are at the top of their respective games.
"If they're at their best and we're at our best, we're going to win," Newton said at Super Bowl Opening Night, according to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com.
"We have different ways to attack the defense and I feel as if we're at our best and the other team is at their best, not just speaking of the Denver Broncos, just any other team," Newton added. "If we're at our best and another team is at their best, we will still win."
Given the level at which the Panthers performed throughout the NFC playoffs, following up a near-perfect regular season, Newton may have a point.
He and the Panthers earned their spot in the Super Bowl after dominant performances against both the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals, looking unstoppable at times in every phase of the game.
