New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will not be required to go under the knife in order to fix the foot and shoulder issues that plagued him during the season, reports Ed Werder of ESPN.

Brees visited foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, who recommended a period of 4-6 weeks rest before easing back into action.

This is the same recommendation Anderson gave Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who also suffered the same torn plantar fascia injury as Brees.

Brees suffered the shoulder injury earlier in the season, causing him to miss the first game in his Saints career. However, it too is not serious enough to require surgery.
