The Washington Redskins clinched the NFC East with a 38-24 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.
Kirk Cousins was masterful in the winning effort, going 31-of-46 for 365 yards and four touchdowns, while Jordan Reed recorded nine receptions for 129 yards and two first-quarter scores.
Preston Smith was the game's standout defensive performer, with the Redskins' rookie linebacker recording four tackles and three sacks.
The Eagles, along with the New York Giants, are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs as a result.
It was a rather even contest until the end of the third quarter, when a costly fumble from Eagles running back DeMarco Murray was returned 17 yards by DeAngelo Hall for a touchdown, providing the Redskins with an unassailable 30-17 lead. Murray finished with a paltry 27 yards, capping off a very disappointing season.
Sam Bradford went 37-of-56 for 380 yards and a touchdown, but it was all for naught.
The Redskins will make their first playoff appearance since the 2012 campaign. Saturday also marks the 600th win in Redskins franchise history.
