Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy had five carries for 4 yards on Thursday night and his reduced role was reportedly not due to injury.
Following the game, Lacy declined to comment on his lack of touches.
"I don’t feel as though that's something I should get into yet," Lacy said, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.
Coming off two games in which he eclipsed the 100-yard mark, Lacy was essentially benched in favor of James Starks and recently promoted practice squad rookie John Crockett.
During the game, CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson reported the benching was not injury-related, and head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed it was due to a lack of practice production following the game.
"Eddie didn’t have a great week, so we went with James," McCarthy said, before praising Crockett for his energy.
"Nothing happened last week with Lacy," McCarthy clarified on Friday. "There was an internal football decision made that led to Lacy's reps."
Going forward, the embattled Lacy seems unaware of his role on the 8-4 Packers. No specifics have been reported, but Lacy has struggled to keep his weight down this season. Whether he regains his bell-cow role remains to be seen.
"Man, that’s something I don’t know about," Lacy said when asked where he stands with the Packers' coaching staff. "We'll see as the season goes on."
